The No. 24 UCLA men's track and field team will head to Seattle, WA Friday, Feb. 25-Saturday, Feb. 26 for the 2005 MPSF Indoor Championships. Last season, the men three-peated to win their third consecutive MPSF title, and will look to win their fourth consecutive title in Seattle.
On the men's side, several Bruins rank in the top-10 in the MPSF going into this weekend's championships and have a strong shot at winning an individual title: seniors Anthony Golston (2nd, 7.85) and Jonathan Williams (6th, 8.06) in the 60m hurdles; senior Nick Thornton ranks first in the 800m (1:48.72), followed by junior Martell Munguia, who ranks second (1:49.22); senior Ben Aragon ranks sixth in the mile (4:05.43) and senior Jon Rankin is seventh in the 3000m (8:07.25); junior Craig Everhart ranks second in the 200m (21.27) and 400m (46.48), while senior Denye' Versher ranks ninth in the 400m (48.11); freshman Michael Johnson ranks third in the triple jump (50-1.75); freshman Dominique Easterling ranks eighth in the long jump (23-7.25); junior Jake Knight ranks second in the shot put (60-1) and sixth in the weight throw (55-7); freshman John Caulfield ranks third in the shot put (60-0.25); junior Jeremy Silverman is fifth in the shot put (58-3) and 10th in the weight throw (55-3.75); junior Andrew Ninow ranks eighth in the weigh throw (55-6.25); senior Yoo Kim ranks second in the pole vault (18-1), while sophomore David Shortenhaus (17-1.75) and junior Mike Landers (16-6) rank fifth and ninth respectively.
The Distance Medley (9:35.45) and 4x400m (3:04.28) relay teams both rank second in the MPSF.
Nationally, several UCLA men continue to rank in the top-20: Everhart (9th, 400m); Thornton (13th, 800m); Munguia (19th, 800m); Golston (20th, 60mH); DMR (4th), Kim (2nd, PV); Knight (18th, SP).
