Box Score

Corvallis, Ore. - The 20th-ranked UCLA men's soccer team fell victim to a hot goalkeeper, as Oregon State rode the play of goalkeeper Peter Billmeyer for a 1-0 victory. Billmeyer made a career-high 11 saves in the shutout.

The game's only goal was scored on a scramble in the box in the 41st minutes. After Bruin keeper Zach Wells charged out for the ball, Aaron McHardy controlled the loose ball and lobbed a shot that at first appeared to be too high but curved down and into the net for his ninth score of the season.

UCLA continued to attack in the second period, totaling 15 shots, but Billmeyer saved all five shots on goal that came his way. Wells made three saves in 90 minutes of play, allowing just the one goal.

Ryan Futagaki led UCLA with six shots. Chadd Davis, Matt Taylor and John Carson all had three shots apiece.

UCLA's record drops to 6-6-2, 2-2-0 in the Pac-10. Oregon State improves to 5-6-0, 1-1-0 in the Pac-10. The Bruins take a break from conference action next week to host St. Mary's, South Carolina and Cal State Fullerton in the 16th annual Pacific Soccer Classic Sept. 26 and 28.
