UCLA at Arizona Schools - The Bruins (7-16, 3-11) will travel to meet the Arizona schools this week. On Thursday at 7:00 pm MT, UCLA will play at the University of Arizona (12-12, 8-7). UCLA leads the series with the Wildcats 34-13, but Arizona won the first meeting of the year in Pauley by a score of 71-60 on January 19. Arizona has split its last six games and closes the regular season with three home games. The Wildcats are the second-highest scoring team in the conference at 75.2 points per game. Frontcourt standout Elizabeth Pickney is fifth in the Pac-10 in scoring at 17.1 ppg.

On Saturday at 2:00 pm MT, UCLA will play at Arizona State (19-7, 10-5). The Bruins lead the all-time series with the Sun Devils by a 35-12 count. ASU won the first meeting of this season in Pauley on January 17, 70-57. The Sun Devils are 11-2 on their home court, with the lone Pac-10 loss coming at the hands of Stanford. ASU is coming off of a 68-50 loss at Washington on Feb. 9. Arizona State ranks first in the conference in scoring defense allowing just 58.6 points per game. Guard Amanda Levens is third in the Pac-10 in scoring at 17.3 ppg.

Radio - Both games will be broadcast live on KACD 850 am (Thousand Oaks) and KEWS 1350 am (Riverside), as well as on the internet at www.uclabruins.com. Fox Sports 1150 am will air both remaining home contests - the Cal game on Feb. 22 and the Stanford game on Feb. 24.

Notes - Whitney Jones poured in a career-high tying 21 points at USC but was the only Bruin in double figures ... Shalada Allen, who scored a career-best 20 points in the win over Long Beach, had a four-game double-figure points streak snapped after scoring six at USC ... Malika Leatham recorded her second double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds against the 49ers ...The Bruins shot a season-best 48.4% in the win at Long Beach ... Oregon to Host First Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament - The 2001-02 season will conclude with the first-ever Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament to be hosted by Oregon on March 1-4. All conference schools will participate in the tournament, with the winner receiving the conference's automatic bid to the 2002 NCAA tournament. The team that finishes the regular season atop the Pac-10 standings, based on the results of the double round robin play, is the conference champion.

2001-02 Game Recaps

Trojans Use Free Throws to Best Bruins - USC converted 16 more free throws than the Bruins on the way to a 71-58 decision in the Sports Arena. The Trojans broke open a close game with a spurt just before and after the half. A 12-1 USC scoring run in the early moments of the second half spelled doom for the Bruins who trailed 34-30 at the time. Whitney Jones led UCLA with a career-high tying 21 points.

Bruins Shoot Down Long Beach State - Shalada Allen led four Bruins in double figures with a career-high 20 points and hit 10 of 14 shots from the field as UCLA bested Long Beach State, 77-73. The Bruins shot a season-best 48% from the field in the game. Natalie Nakase joined Allen in double figures with 14 points. Whitney Jones and Malika Leatham each scored 11 points. Leatham also grabbed 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
