In Saturday's match-up against Long Beach State, the Bruins came from behind to clinch the victory. Freshman Amber Stachowski scored the first goal of the game, putting UCLA ahead 1-0. But, Long Beach State scored three consecutive goals, giving them a 3-1 lead. UCLA answered with three goals to end the second quarter with the Bruins leading 4-3. UCLA went on a 5-0 run to push ahead of Long Beach 6-3. Long Beach scored a goal in the final second of the game, giving the Bruins a 6-4 victory.
Amber Stachowski and Maureen Flanagan led the Bruins, each netting a pair of goals. Other Bruin scorers were Natalie Golda and Mari Joyce, who also netted a goal. Jaime Hipp ended the game with a pair of saves.
The Bruins improve to 10-3 overall, 4-1 MPSF. UCLA will face No. 8 San Diego State March 15 and UC San Diego, March 16, in San Diego, CA.
