Women's Golfers Tied for 5th After First Round at Stanford

The UCLA women's golf team is tied for fifth place after the first round at the Stanford/Pepsi Invitational, hosted by Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course.

The Bruins posted a team score of 294, six-over par, and are tied with USC and Arizona State. Vanderbilt leads the field at eight-under par 280, followed by Tulsa at 284 and Washington and California at 293.

Sophomore Gina Umeck posted an even par score of 72 to lead the Bruins. She is tied for 11th place. Melissa Martin is tied for 19th at 73 and senior Alicia Um is tied for 30th at 74. Sophomore Johanna Andersson posted a score of 75 and is tied for 35th and junior Vivan Phosomran is tied for 45th at 76. Sophomore Saki Uechi, playing as an individual, is tied for 19th at 73.

Arizona State's Jimin Kang leads the field after posting a score of 65, seven under par. Two players are tied at 67 and there is a three-way for fourth at 69.
