Three UCLA female golfers finished among the Top 10 individuals at the Matador Spring Invitational, hosted by Cal State Northridge at Simi Hills Golf Course in Simi Valley.
Senior Hana Kim overtook teammate Saki Uechi to claim medalist honors for the first time in her collegiate career. Kim, who spent two seasons at Northwestern before transferring to UCLA last season, fired a final round two-under par 69 to beat Uechi, the first round leader, by three shots. Kim's 36-hole total of 143 was one-over par. Uechi posted a 75 on Tuesday and finished at four-over par 146.
Junior Yvonne Choe posted a one-over par 72 and finished in a tie for seventh at 151.
Santa Clara won the four-team event with a two-round team total of 610, 42 over par, beating host Cal State Northridge by one stroke. Sacramento State placed third at 629, followed by Cal Poly at 643.
The UCLA women's golf team will host the 2004 Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships, Apr. 19-21, at Saticoy CC in Somis.
