Seven Bruin Gymnasts Selected to Pac-10 All-Academic Team

The UCLA gymnastics team placed seven student-athletes on the Pac-10 All-Academic team, including first-team selection Jamie Williams.

Williams, a senior Psychology major with a 3.85 gpa, earns her third academic honor overall. She was a second-team selection a year ago and an honorable mention pick as a sophomore. Williams has competed for the Bruins in nine meets and earned a career-high 9.9 on beam in her first meet of the season. She has averaged 9.771 on floor, with season highs of 9.8 set three times.

Junior Christie Tedmon and sophomores Holly Murdock and Kate Richardson earned second-team honors. Tedmon, who earned honorable mention acclaim a year ago, posted a 3.71 gpa in Psychology/Education. Murdock holds a 3.84 gpa in Biology, and Richardson has a 3.74 gpa in Physiological Science.

Seniors Jamie Dantzscher, Kristen Maloney and Yvonne Tousek received honorable mention honors, Dantzscher and Tousek's third and Maloney's first.

UCLA and Washington tied for most academic selections in the Pac-10 with seven apiece.

In order to be eligible for Pac-10 All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
