UCLA Head Coach Andy Banachowski
(on tonight's performance): "It was a little erratic out there, but on the good side of things. I'm disappointed we lost our momentum and dropped that second match. Overall, it was a good performance, just inconsistent."
(on facing USD and the differences between them and Kansas.): "I'm hoping for a similar outcome as tonight. They run a fast offense and move their hitters around a lot. Kansas was very limited offensively because of the injuries on their team and that won't be the same with San Diego tomorrow. Our blockers have to be on tomorrow and the team has to stay sharp."
Junior Nana Meriwether
(on losing game 2): "We lost our momentum and got down on ourselves and couldn't get over it. If we want to win tomorrow we have got to get more consistent. Tonight helps because it's kind of like getting the kinks out so we'll be on tomorrow."
(on the play of Rachell Johnson): She's an excellent player and she's turning into someone to go to when we are down. As her performance improves, she gains more confidence in her play and we gain more confidence in her."
Head Coach Ray Bechard
(on the match): "I'm extremely proud of our group because we lost our setter to energy and this was Emily's (Brown) second full match and she was great. We competed really hard and were out there for two hours against a good team. UCLA has a few more weapons then us and they didn't panic. Meriwether was really involved in the match and in the end, I was really happy with our effort."
