Final Stats

Bruin starter Casey Janssen struck-out 11 batters in seven innings to lead UCLA (24-26) to a 5-4 win over Washington (33-15) in front of 474 fans at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The right-hander improved to 5-5 on the season and came one strikeout shy of his career-high. He allowed only one earned run hits on five in his seven frames.

The lone earned run for Washington came in the top of the first, when Greg Isaacson homered off Janssen.

UCLA responded in the bottom of the inning when consecutive singles from Brett McMillan, Billy Susdorf and Wes Whisler drove in a Bruin run.

The Huskies would post another run in the second when two UCLA errors allowed a run to score.

However, the Bruins rallied with a two-RBI double from Warren Trott in the third. His double scored McMillan, who had walked, and Susdorf who reached on a bunt single.

UCLA added two runs in the sixth when two runs scored on after Husky pitcher Matt Kasser threw a ball into the outfield trying to get a runner at second.

Doug Silva relieved Janssen in the eighth inning. After not allowing a run in the eighth, two Huskies would score in the ninth to put Washington behind by only one run. Yet, Silva would shut the door on the Huskies when a fly ball to right field ended the contest.

Susdorf led the Bruin offense, going 3-for-4, while Trott added two RBI.

Wes Whisler will take the mound for the Bruins tomorrow in a 1:00 p.m. match-up with the Huskies at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
