The UCLA men's golf Blue Team won its third team title of the spring season, capturing the Wyoming Cowboy Classic by 16 shots at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ.
The Bruins posted a 54-hole score of 829, 11-under par, and outdistanced second-place Drake University, which finished with a score of 845, five-over par. Idaho was third at 846, followed by Boise State at 848 and Cal State Northridge at 849. Individually, all five UCLA players finished among the top 30 players led by freshman
Joakim Renstrom placed third with a 54-hole score of 206, four-under par. Renstrom posted an even par score of 70 in the final round. Senior Travis Johnson tied for fourth place at three-under 207 after posting a round of one-over par 71 on Tuesday. Freshmen Chris Heintz and Peter Campbell each fired one-under par rounds of 69 on the final day. Heintz tied for eighth place at one-under 209 and Campbell tied for 13th at even par 210. Sophomore Breene Murphy tied for 28th at four-over par 215.
Cal Poly's Travis Bertoni won medalist honors after firing a final round 67 and finishing with a six-under par total of 204. Jarett Hamamoto finished second at five-under 205.
