Next Up -- UCLA (3-13, 2-3) travels to meet the Oregon schools this week. The Bruins play Oregon State on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in Corvallis, OR. Oregon, ranked 20th in this week's AP poll, will host the Bruins in a 1 p.m. Fox Net TV game on Saturday.

UCLA leads the series with Oregon State 24-11. The teams split last season's games with each squad winning on their home court. The Beavers bested the Bruins, 72-52, in Corvallis after UCLA handed Oregon State a 83-60 defeat in Pauley earlier in the year. Junior guard Felicia Ragland leads the Beavers in scoring with a 17.5 average, which ranks her second in the conference.

Oregon gained a 16-15 edge in the series with a sweep of last season's games. The Ducks won, 89-72, in Eugene and 67-58 earlier in the season in Pauley. Senior forward Angelina Wolvert is the leading scorer for the Ducks, but her status for this week's games is uncertain due to a knee injury. Oregon is 6-0 at home this season.

Radio/TV -- The Oregon State game will be aired live on 850am and on the internet at www.uclabruins.com. The Oregon contest will be televised live by Fox Sports Net at 1 p.m. on Saturday and aired live on 850am and the internet.

This Week's Headlines -- Kristee Porter registered her second straight double-double when she grabbed a career-high 16 boards to go along with 11 points in the win over Arizona ... The consecutive double-doubles were the first by a UCLA player in a conference game since Maylana Martin did it Feb. 20 and Feb. 25, 1999 ...Porter recorded a career-high in points (13) and a then career-best rebound total (14) against ASU ... Whitney Jones scored 11 points (ties career-high), pulled down nine boards (career-high) and had two assists (ties career-high) and three steals in the win over Arizona ... Jones also had 11 points in the ASU game ... Natalie Nakase matched her career-high with seven assists in the win over Arizona ... Malika Leatham tied her career-best with nine rebounds vs. Arizona ... With 22 points against ASU and 29 against Arizona, Michelle Greco now has nine games this season in which she scored at least 20 points ... She has 12 career 20-point games ... Whitney Jones and Kristee Porter started together at the forward positions for the fourth straight game against Arizona (the team has a 2-2 record in those games) ...The UCLA win over Arizona was its fifth straight over the Wildcats ... The Bruin win over USC was its sixth in the last seven series meetings ... UCLA entered the week leading the league in steals (11.00 spg) and was forcing its opponents to commit 22.7 turnovers per game, second-most in the Pac-10.

Greco Atop Pac-10 Conference In Scoring -- Junior guard Michelle Greco entered the week leading the Pac-10 Conference in scoring with a 19.9 points per game average. She also ranked first in free throw percentage with a .898 mark (44-49), fifth in steals (2.00 per game) and tied for third in three-point goals made (1.80 per game).

Bruins Nab Conference Lead In Steals -- The Bruins enter the week leading the Pac-10 Conference in steals with an average of 11.00 picks per game (176 total). Two Bruins were ranked amongst the conference's Top 10. Michelle Greco, the Bruin leader, ranked fifth with an average of 2.00 (30). Freshman Gennifer Arranaga rated 10th with a 1.75 mark. Redshirt sophomore Natalie Nakase is not far behind, with 27 steals (1.69).

Porter, Jones Become Two-Sport Starters -- Volleyball All-American Kristee Porter and soccer standout Whitney Jones became two-sport starters recently as new additions to the UCLA women's basketball starting lineup. Porter, who also competes for the track and field team, made her first hoops appearance Dec. 18 against Old Dominion and contributed 10 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots. She made her first career start against fourth-ranked Georgia, scoring 11 points and grabbing eight boards. Jones joined the team a few days after playing in the NCAA Soccer championship game and saw her first action in the Bruins' win over Long Beach State Dec. 10. In her basketball debut, she scored two points and grabbed three boards. She made her first start of the year at Washington State and scored eight points with four rebounds and four steals. The Bruin record in games started by the multi-sport tandem now stands at 2-2.

Bruins Face One of Nation's Toughest Schedules -- Seven non-conference games (Duke, Utah, BYU, San Diego, Old Dominion, Pepperdine and Georgia) were played against teams which earned bids to the 2000 NCAA tournament, and another two were played against WNIT teams (New Mexico, Long Beach State). In Pac-10 play, the Bruins will face NCAA tournament teams Oregon, Arizona and Stanford, as well as WNIT teams from Arizona St. and USC. UCLA currently has the 16th-toughest schedule in the nation.

Head Coach Kathy Olivier -- Having just completed her seventh season (entered the 2000-01 season with a 115-85 overall record) as UCLA head coach, Kathy Olivier has steadily built the program to reflect her own positive, upbeat and outgoing personality. In 2000, she saw her team reach the NCAA tournament for a third-straight season, a school record. The squad also set a school home attendance record by averaging over 3,700 fans. Maylana Martin became just the third player to ever earn All-Pac-10 honors in four straight seasons. Olivier became just the second coach at UCLA and the 11th in the Pac-10 to earn victory number 100, which came against San Diego State.

In 1999, she led her Bruin team to the school's first ever Pac-10 conference title and an unprecedented second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance for the program. The team totaled the most wins (26) since the 1981 season and advanced further in the NCAA tournament (Regional final) than any previous UCLA team. The team put together back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the 1970's. In addition, the 1999 Bruin team finished with its highest ranking ever (No. 7) in the USA Today poll.

In 1998, she guided UCLA to what was then its best finish ever (tie for second) in the Pac-10, its best winning percentage in the last 17 seasons and the first 20-win season since 1992.
