Kim Vandenberg advanced to another final of the USA Nationals in Palo Alto, this time in the 100m butterfly, finishing fourth in the preliminaries with a time of 1:01.16. Vandenberg already captured her first national title in the 200m fly on Wednesday. She finished 13th on Thursday in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:04.36.
Vandenberg will swim for her second national title on Friday evening. UCLA will also field a team in the 800m freestyle relay Friday night.
In earlier action on Friday, Jane Imagane finished ninth in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:18.48. Kendall Butler and Amy Thurman both swam in the 100m butterfly. Thurman finished 43rd in a time of 1:03.90, while Butler finished 52nd in a time of 1:04.63.
On Saturday, Kim Scarborough, Lindsey Smart, and Isabel Meisner will swim in the 200m individual medley. Incoming freshman Erin Ketchum will swim in the 1500m freestyle. Kim Vandenberg will again take to the pool, this time in the 50m freestyle, along with teammate Amy Thurman. UCLA will also field a team in the 400m medley relay.
