LOS ANGELES - A total of nine Bruin men's tennis players will be competing for singles and doubles titles this week as the Pac-10 Championships get underway this Thursday in Ojai, Calif.
Competing in main draw singles at the Pac-10s will be Marcin Matkowski, Erfan Djahangiri, Rodrigo Grilli and Chris Lam. Grilli, the defending Pac-10 singles champion, will take on Arizona's Carl Hagman in Thursday's first round. Matkowski and Djahangiri will each take on ASU players, with Matkowski going up against Olivier Charroin and Djahangiri facing Pim Van Mele. Chris Lam will play Washington's Christoph Palmanshofer.
In main draw doubles action beginning Friday, the duo of Grilli and Matkowski will take on ASU's Ryan McBride/Van Mele. Djahangiri/ Alberto Francis will be going up against ASU's Charroin/Chris Stewart.
In addition to main draw action, there will also be a Pac-10 Invitational bracket for singles and doubles. Bruins competing in the Pac-10 Invite for singles include, Francis, Chris Surapol, Aaron Yovan, Travis Kinard and Lassi Ketola. Invitational doubles will feature Ketola/Yovan and Lam/Surapol.
All Pac-10 matches will be played at Ojai's Libbey Park. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
