LOS ANGELES, Calif. - UCLA freshman Alan Bohane survived Wednesday's prequalifying tournament and will compete in the main draw of the Southern California Intercollegiate Tennis Championships Thursday. Joining Bohane on Thursday are fellow Bruins Chris Sands and Lassi Ketola, who automatically qualified for the main draw competition.
In qualifying action, Bohane defeated USC's Scott Merryman 6-3, 6-3 and then went on to crush Loyola's Michael Cameron 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 16.
UCLA freshman Zac Knysh received a first round bye in the qualifiers, but fell to USC's Parker Collins 6-0, 6-1 in the second round. Bruin freshman Jared Freedman fell to UC Irvine's Chris Ma 6-1, 6-2 in the first round qualifier.
The Southern California Intercollegiate Championships is an all-day tournament held at the Los Angeles Tennis Club from November 17 through 21.
