Walnut Creek, Calif. - UCLA senior midfielder Shaun Tsakiris has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for September 26-October 1, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Tsakiris, from Saratoga, Calif., recorded two goals and an assist during the week. He came off the bench to score the game-winning goal against 1999 national finalist Santa Clara on Sept. 28. Tsakiris also led the Bruins back against St. Mary's on Oct. 1. With his team down 2-1 at the half, Tsakiris assisted on the equalizer and then scored the game-winning goal himself.
Tsakiris now has a career-high five goals to rank second on the team. He also has 15 points and a team-leading five assists.
This is the second weekly honor for Tsakiris and UCLA's fourth Player of the Week honor in five weeks this season.
