Los Alamitos, CA -The U.S. women's water polo team announced its roster for the 10th FINA World Championships (July 13-27) and the 2003 Pan American Games (August 3-11) this week. The roster will include seven players from the 2000 Olympics roster and 12 from the 2002 World Cup roster. Both of those teams captured silver. Team USA is currently ranked No. 2 in the world behind Hungary.
Five current and former Bruins were named to the thirteen-player roster. Robin Beauregard rejoins Team USA as a defender after finishing her illustrious collegiate career at UCLA. UCLA alum Nicolle Payne was one of two goalkeepers named to the squad. Rounding out UCLA's selections are three current Bruins. Current UCLA standout Natalie Golda will be one of three players at the center position for Team USA. Thalia Munro and Amber Stachowski, who both redshirted the Bruins 2003 season, will be drivers for Team USA.
UCLA is the most represented school on the roster, followed by Stanford, which had four players selected.
