Recently graduated UCLA golfer Susie Mathews earned Scholar All-America honors from the National Golf Coaches Assn., the organization announced last month.
Mathews' graduated in June with a cumulative grade point average of 3.59 in Communications. Her selection this year as an NGCA Scholar All-American is believed to be the first time a player has earned the academic honor four straight years from NGCA.
She also was named to the UCLA Director's Honor Roll 11 times (out of 12 possible quarters) and was a four-time member of the Dean's List in the College of Letters and Science. In addition, she was a three-time selection to the Pac-10 All-Academic Team.
"We are so proud of Susie for her academic accomplishments at UCLA," said Head Coach Carrie Forsyth. "She has worked very hard her entire career to be not only a great student but an exceptional athlete."
On the golf course, Mathews was a four-time All-Pacific-10 Conference selection and a two-time All-American. A member of UCLA's 2004 NCAA championship team, she finished third individually at the NCAA Championship. In her collegiate career, she played more than 100 rounds for the Bruins and boasted a 73.9 career scoring average.
