STANFORD, Calif. - Bethany Donaphin scored 18 points as No. 6 Stanford handed UCLA its seventh straight defeat, 81-50 on Friday night in Maples Pavilion.
Nicole Powell added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Cardinal (11-1, 3-0 Pac-10).
Stanford has beaten the Bruins (3-8, 0-3) at Maples Pavilion 13 times in their last 14 meetings in 24 of 26 overall meetings since 1988.
Bruin sophomore forward Whitney Jones hit a 3-pointer to cut Stanford's lead to 39-35 with 17:24 to play, but the Cardinal responded with 10 straight points during a 15-2 run that made it 54-37. Donaphin scored six points during the 10-0 run.
"Our players did a great job as far as effort goes," said UCLA head coach Kathy Olivier. "Our game plan was to make them turn the ball over. We were hoping for our defense to create our offense. But we got into some foul trouble and Stanford took advantage."
The Cardinal used a 12-0 run early in the first half to open an 18-6 lead. Stanford led 37-29 at the half.
UCLA will next face California on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 2:00 pm in Berkeley.
