Bruins Defeat California Golden Bears in Sudden Death Overtime: After a 4-5 loss to USC in the national tournament, the Bruins bounced back from their defeat to edge past the Golden Bears, 6-5, in sudden death overtime. With the win, the Bruins earned third place national honors. The victory marks the fourth consecutive time that UCLA has defeated California at the Collegiate National Tournament. In the past three seasons, the Bruins have recorded wins over the Golden Bears in the '96, '97 and ' 98 title games.

All-Tournament Teams: Three Bruins earned All-Tournament honors for their efforts at the National Collegiate Tournament this past weekend. Freshman Elaine Zivich of Lompoc earned first-team All-Tournament honors. At the tournament, Zivich tallied a team-high nine goals and scored in all four of UCLA's games. Against Maryland on May 7, Zivich led the team with three goals. Against top- ranked USC, Zivich led the team with two goals. In the third place title game, the 5-11 attacker from Cabrillo High fired in a team-high three goals. A consistent scoring threat, Zivich leads the team with 64 goals and has scored in all but two of UCLA's 34 games this season.

Katie Tenenbaum, a 5-7 senior from Merced, earned second-team accolades. Tenenbaum fired in three goals over the weekend. She was also instrumental in the third-place game against Cal, assisting Zivich with a goal that brought the game into overtime and notching the game-winning goal. Freshman Jenny Lamb of Marina High in Huntington Beach earned an honorable mention nod. The 5-7 playmaker notched two goals over the weekend and is the third-leading scorer on the team with 27 goals.

Bruin Notes: UCLA outscored their season opponents 267-156. Ten Bruins netted more than 10 goals this season, and six scored 20 or more. Freshman Elaine Zivich surpassed Erin Golaboski's school record for most attempts in a season, launching 130 shots at opposing netkeepers (Golaboski's record in 1998 was 126).
