LAS VEGAS - Senior women's tennis player Laura Gordon's impressive run through the singles draw at the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships came to an end Sunday, as she fell in the singles final to Stanford's Celia Durkin.

Gordon, who had beaten two top-10 players en route to the final, fell to Durkin 6-2, 6-0 at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.

In doubles, top-seeded Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey of Stanford defeated second-seeded Kady Pooler and Roxanne Clarke of Arizona State 9-7 to also give the Cardinal the doubles crown.

UCLA kicks off the 2006 dual-match season this Thursday, hosting Loyola Marymount at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
