Tucson, Ariz. - Following a scoreless first half, the No. 7-ranked UCLA women's soccer team netted a goal in the 68th minute of play Friday evening to defeat Arizona, 1-0 at Murphey Stadium in Tucson, Ariz. With the victory, the Bruins improve to 10-3 overall and 2-1 in the Pac-10. The Wildcats fall to 5-6-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play.
Bruin freshman Jill Oakes, who had a game-high six shots, scored the game's only goal at the 67:46 mark of the second half on a penalty kick. The call was made after UCLA midfielder Allie True was clipped from behind in the Arizona box.
UCLA, which outshot Arizona, 25-2, improves to 9-0 all-time against the Wildcats.
The Bruins return to action on Sunday to face Arizona State in Tempe beginning at 11:00 a.m.
