UCLA 11th After Two Rounds At ASU Thunderbird

The UCLA men's golf team is 11th after 36 holes at the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational at the Karsten Course in Tempe, AZ.

The Bruins' 36-hole total of 570 is six under par and leads 12th place Oklahoma by one stroke. The Bruins trail 10th place USC by three shots.

Texas blistered the course with a 29-under par two round score of 547. Host ASU is second at 558, 18-under par, and New Mexico and Oklahoma State are tied for third at 15-under par 561.

UCLA sophomores John Merrick and Steve Conway are tied for 17th place at four-under par 140. Merrick shot 71-69 and Conway posted scores of 72-68. Senior Parker McLachlin is teid for 26th at three-under par 141 after rounds of 72-69. Freshmen John Poucher and Breene Murphy are tied for 71st (149) and 81st (151), respectively.

ASU's Pat Moore is the leader in the clubhouse at 13-under par 131 after firing rounds of 67-64. Oregon's Charlie Carnahan is second at 12-under 132 (68-64). John Klauk of Texas and Bret Guetz of TCU are tied for third at 133. Overall, 38 players broke par.
