This past weekend, Bruin swimmers completed competition at the US Nationals, held in Fresno, CA.
On Friday, Bruins competed in the 100 fly and 100 back. In the 100 fly, former Bruin Beth Goodwin finished second in a time of 1:00.36. Katie Younglove finished 21st overall in 1:02.93 and Kristen Lewis tied for 29th in the prelims with a time of 1:03.17. In the 100 back, Leanne Cadag finished 52nd in the prelims with a time of 1:08.83.
On the final day of competition, Bruins competed in the 200 IM and 50 free. Cathy Coler finished 21st over all in the 200 IM in 2:21.20. In the 50 free, Erica Shugart placed 16th overall in 26.91 and Leanne Cadag placed 45th in the prelims in 27.73.
The Bruins will begin the 2001-2002 season against UC Santa Barbara and Oregon State on October 19 at 1:00 PM in Santa Barbara. The first home meet will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2002 against the University of Illinois at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center.
