The third-ranked UCLA men's golf team will play in the 45th Pacific-10 Conference Men's Golf Championships, Apr. 26-28 at the Gallery at Dove Mountain North Course in Tucson, AZ.
The Bruins are the defending champions, winning last year's event by 27 shots over Arizona at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. UCLA senior John Merrick is the defending champion, posting a 72-hole score last season of 276, 12-under par.
The Gallery will play to a par of 72 over 7,412 yards. Tournament format calls for six-player team with the top five scores counting over 72 holes. The tournament begins with 36 holes on Monday and continues with 18 holes on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Bruins will tee off at 8:36 a.m. Monday on the first tee with Stanford.
UCLA will field a team of four seniors, a junior and a freshman. Seniors Travis Johnson, Steve Conway, John Merrick and Roy Moon as well as junior John Poucher were members of tast year's conference championship team. Freshman Peter Campbell completes the UCLA lineup.
Last season Merrick earned first-team all-conference honors and Head coach O.D. Vincent was named Coach of the Year for the second time.
UCLA is the highest ranked team in the tournament. The Bruins have won four team titles this season and 11 overall since February of 2003. They have finished among the Top 10 teams in 23 consecutive tournaments.
