LOS ANGELES - Pac-10 co-champion UCLA (13-6) earned a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Women's Soccer Championships beginning this week, and will host the first and second rounds, Nov. 12 and 14 at Drake Stadium.
Action begins this Friday with UCLA taking on Pepperdine (9-6-3) at 5:00 p.m. San Diego (11-7-2) and UNLV (12-4-2) will play the second match that evening beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
"We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to play at home," said UCLA head coach Jillian Ellis. "Our competitive schedule this year has prepared us for this point in the season and I believe we are ready for the challenge. I am hoping we can build on the momentum following a very emotional win over USC last week in our final match of the regular season."
UCLA beat both San Diego and Pepperdine earlier in the year. The Bruins defeated the Toreros, 4-0 in their season opener for both teams back on Aug. 27. UCLA knocked off the Waves, 1-0 at home on Sept. 24.
The highest seeded team in the Bruins' section of the draw is No. 3 Virginia, a team UCLA could potentially face in the third round.
It marks the eighth year in a row that UCLA has made the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have made the NCAA field a total of nine times in the 12-year history of the program.
