LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Brant Rustich, UCLA's sophomore-to-be right-handed pitcher, is slated to start Wednesday for the Santa Barbara Foresters in the team's winner's bracket final at the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kansas. The El Cajon, native has been with the Foresters all summer but has not pitched since July 29. In eight appearances over the summer, Rustich is 4-2 with a 1.80 ERA. He has tossed 40 innings, which is fourth-most on the squad. His best outing of the summer came on July 16 against the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox when he pitched a two-hit shutout while striking out eight. The Santa Barbara Foresters will enter Wednesday's contest with a record of 43-12. They are the defending national champions after losing to the Taiwan National Team in the finals of the 2003 NBC World Series. Follow the action on www.nbcbaseball.com.
