Bruins Climb in National Rankings

Los Angeles - Following two victories this past weekend, the UCLA women's tennis team moved up two spots to No. 7 in the latest ITA rankings released Wednesday.

UCLA, which debuted at No. 9 in the preseason rankings released in December, upset No. 7 Arizona State, 4-3 on Saturday in the Bruins' 2001 season opener. On Sunday, UCLA defeated No. 24 Arizona, 6-1 to improve to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 in Pac-10 action.

The Bruins are off this week, however sophomore Sara Walker will be competing in the Rolex National Indoor Championships in Dallas, Tex. UCLA's next dual match is Feb. 8 against UC Irvine at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
