Five Bruins Finish among Top 25 at Scratch Players Championship

Five UCLA golfers finished among the Top 25 individuals at the 100th Scratch Players Championship at Stevinson Ranch near Modesto. The tournament ended July 4.

UCLA senior John Merrick captured second place with a 72-hole total of 276, 14-under par. Merrick, who played the final 36 holes in five-under par, finished two strokes behind medalist Andrew Dresser. Junior John Poucher tied for third place at seven-under par 281. Poucher also played the last two rounds in five-under par. Senior Travis Johnson placed fifth at 282, six-under par and teammate Steve Conway was seventh at four-under par 284. Senior Roy Moon finished in 25th place at eight-over par 296 after posting a final round 80.
