UCLA forward Jason Kapono has been named National Freshman of the Year by CBS SportsLine.
Kapono is one of just two Bruins to start all 28 games this season. He is leading the team in scoring with his 16.4 average, the second-highest freshman average is school history behind Don MacLean's 18.6 in 1989.
He currently ranks second in the Pac-10 and ninth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (47.6), fourth in the Pac-10 in scoring (16.4) and sixth in the league in field goal percentage (52.3).
