UCLA sophomore goalkeeper Nick Rimando (Montclair, Calif./Montclair HS) was selected to Soccer America's Team of the Week after shutting out San Diego 2-0 last Friday. Rimando made a career-high six saves in the contest and extended his shutout streak to 445 minutes.
Rimando currently ranks fourth in the nation with a 0.32 goals against average and leads a Bruin defense which ranks second in the nation with a team goals against average of 0.286. Rimando has shut out six of seven opponents this season and has four solo shutouts. Second-ranked UCLA ranks first nationally in shutouts per game (.857, 6 of 7).
Rimando and the Bruins will have a chance to extend their shutout streak to six games when they host Loyola Marymount Sunday, Oct. 4 at the North Athletic Field at 2:00 pm.
