PLEASANTON, CA - Overnight rain soaked the fields at the Pleasanton Sports Park, resulting in a Sunday morning decision to cancel all remaining games at the National Invitational Softball Tournament in Pleasanton, CA. The games will not be made up.
Arizona State was 3-0 in the championship bracket on Saturday and was the only undefeated team remaining in the bracket. UCLA, 5-1 in tournament play and 2-1 in yesterday's championship bracket play, was still in the running for the NIST title, but would have had to defeat Long Beach State, Iowa and Arizona State on Sunday in order to win the tournament championship.
UCLA will return to action on Wednesday, March 13, with a 1 pm doubleheader against UC Santa Barbara at Easton Stadium.
