Men's Tennis Falls in Qualifying Matches

LOS ANGELES -- In qualifying action of the 1998 ITA All-American Championships hosted at the University of Texas' Penick-Allison Tennis Center today, UCLA senior Brandon Kramer lost in both singles and doubles, with sophomore partner Noah Newman.

Kramer lost 6-4, 6-2 to Marco Baron of Mississippi State in the second round of qualifying singles play. He also lost in the second round of doubles play with Newman falling 7-6(5), 6-4 to Dan Healey and Conrad Hurter also of Mississippi State.

The Bruins have two players awaiting the start of play in the main draw on Friday, Oct. 15. Freshman Zach Fleishman will meet Miami's Ivan Rodrigo at 9:00 am. Sophomore Jean-Noel Grinda is slated to face Toby Hansson of SMU at 11:30 am.
