Blong, Renfrow and Strack Head to U.S. Open Diving Championships

Junior Amanda Blong, Senior Janine Strack and freshman Brittany Renfrow will head to Midland, TX and the Mabee Memorial Aquatic Center for the 2005 U.S. Open (formerly The American Cup) with the hopes of qualifying for the World University Games.

The U.S. Open is the meet in which athletes can qualify for the World University Games, as well as possible future international competitions. The qualifying section of the meet will take place April 6 (three-meter) and April 7 (platform). The acutal U.S. Open will take place April 8-10 with the women's platform competition on April 9 and the three-meter competition on April 10.

A minimum of 12 participants in the qualifying meet will advance to the U.S. Open, where there will be a total of 24 competitors invited to particpate in the meet. Blong, Strack and Renfrow will compete in the qualifying meet first with the hopes of qualifying for the actual U.S. Open and possibly the World University Games.
