Final Stats

UCLA (17-23) was unable to comeback from a 7-1 deficit after the first inning and fell to second-ranked Cal State Fullerton (31-8), 13-2 at Goodwin Field

Despite posting four hits and getting on the board in the first inning when Wes Whisler drove in Brett McMillan, who had doubled earlier, UCLA found itself down 7-1 after the first frame. The first seven batters in the Titan line-up scored in the inning as two singles, two walks and a three-run home run from Danny Dorn brought the runners in.

It looked as if the Bruins could rally, recording three hits in the third inning and posting a run when McMillan came home on a ground-out. However, the Titans would add two more to their total in the bottom of the fourth to increase their advantage to 9-2.

Three more Titan runs would cross home plate in the fifth as Kurt Suzuki scored on a Sergio Pedroza single before a two-RBI double from Jason Corapci.

Reliever Garett White would quiet the Titan attack in the sixth and seventh innings, allowing only one hit.

The Titans added another run in the eighth to seal the 13-2 win.

The Bruins will return to Pac-10 play when they head to fourth-ranked Arizona State this weekend. Due to the holiday weekend, UCLA will face the Sun Devils on Thursday night when left-hander Mike Kunes will take the mound for the Bruins. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
