Gainesville, FL - The UCLA women's tennis team had its NCAA Tournament run ended today by Duke, 4-0. The Bruins' appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals was the team's third in four years.

Duke won the doubles point by taking the first two matches before UCLA's Laura Gordon and Sara Walker could complete their match. Katie Blaszak and Katie Granson of Duke defeated Anya Loncaric and Susi Wild of UCLA, 8-2, followed by No. 8 Amanda Johnson and Julie DeRoo's defeat of Jackie Carleton and Feriel Esseghir, also 8-2. No. 46 Gordon and Walker led No. 14 Kelly McCain and Hillary Adams 6-5 when doubles play was suspended.

The Blue Devils continued their successful play in singles. No. 69 Blaszak defeated Gordon, 6-1, 6-3 to put Duke ahead 2-0, and Granson followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Loncaric. DeRoo provided the clinching win with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Esseghir.

Though the team competition is completed for the Bruins in 2003, the individual competition will commence on Monday. UCLA has three singles entrants, including No. 12 Walker, No. 20 Carleton, and No. 50 Wild. The draw for the individual competition will be announced following the team competition final on Sunday.
