Los Angeles - Seven Bruins will open the 1999 women's tennis season by competing in the seventh annual Pac-10 Indoor Tennis Tournament hosted by the University of Washington this weekend. Matches will take place at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8 and running through Sunday, Jan. 10. Doubles competition should begin around 4 p.m. on Friday and continue through Sunday. The singles finals will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, followed by doubles.
The tournament features four singles flights and three doubles. The top three singles flights will also include a consolation bracket.
Representing UCLA in flight one singles will be Amanda Basica and Cristina Popescu. Competing in flight two singles are Annica Cooper and Elizabeth Schmidt. Bruins in flight three singles are Brandi Freudenberg and Katia Roubanova. UCLA's Jennifer Donahue will play in flight four singles. Doubles teams for the weekend will be Basica/Cooper, Popescu/Roubanova and Freudenberg/ Schmidt, competing in that order of flights.
