The Bruins embark on their final weekend of Pac-10 play, traveling to the state of Washington for a Friday match at Washington State, followed by a Saturday tangle against third-ranked Washington. Last season, the Bruins won a pair of five-game matches with Brynn Murphy earning Pac-10 Player of the Week honors following two matches with 20+ kills. Earlier this season, the Bruins swept Washington State and lost to the Huskies in three games in Pauley Pavilion in late September to open the Pac-10 Conference season.

Bruins Sweep Oregon Schools in Final Home Weekend
The Bruins turned in two solid performances in their final regular season appearances at Pauley Pavilion with sweeps of Oregon State and Oregon. Friday's match against the Beavers featured a record performance by sophomore Katie Carter, who had 16 kills on 26 attacks with no errors for a .615 attack percentage. That is the second highest number of error-free total attacks for a single match in Bruin women's volleyball history. Carter had another solid performance on Saturday night against Oregon with nine kills and a .467 attack percentage, but the UCLA seniors stole the show on senior night. Brittany Ringel led the Bruins with 12 kills, while Brynn Murphy hit .692 with no errors and nine kills, Krystal McFarland had six kills of her own, and Heather Cullen downed seven kills and had eight digs in her first match action since Oct. 15. Brynn Murphy also chipped in with an error-free nine kills on 13 attacks. All five of UCLA's seniors started the Oregon match.

Head Coach Andy Banachowski
In his 38th season on the Bruin bench, UCLA head coach Andy Banachowski remains one of the top coaches in his profession. On Sept. 1, 2001, he became the first collegiate women's volleyball coach in history to record 900 career wins, and is just the second collegiate volleyball coach for either gender to reach that milestone. UCLA men's coach Al Scates, for whom Banachowski was a setter during his collegiate career, posted his 1,000th career win in February, 2000. The first women's volleyball coach to be inducted into the National Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, MA, Banachowski currently has a career record of 980-253 (.795), and has coached the Bruins to six national championships, including three NCAA titles.
