The UCLA men's golf Blue Team is in 16th place after the first round of the UC Riverside Classic at the Southern California PGA Course in Beaumont.
The Bruins posted a team score of 329, 41 shots over par and trail first place Cal State Northridge by 33 shots. UC Irvine is second at 298 and St. Mary's College is third at 305. The Bruins trail 15th place Loyola-Marymount by three shots and are five shots out of 14th place.
Freshman Joakim Renstrom was the only UCLA player to break 80, shooting a six-over par score of 78, tied for 33rd place. Sophomore Breene Murphy posted a 10-over par 82 and is tied for 62nd. Chris Heintz is tied for 65th after carding an 83 and Peter Campbell is tied for 78th at 86.
The leaders in the clubhouse are Grant DeLaet of Boise State, Isaac Weintraub of San Jose State and Will Park of UC Irvine who all shot par 72.
