Former Bruin swimmer Katie Younglove has been awarded an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship three and a half years after having been named an alternate in 2002.

In all, UCLA has a combined total of five former swimmers who have received the NCAA Scholarship - Annette Salmeen, Keiko Price, Kristen Lewis, Brighid Dwyer and Katie Younglove.

Younglove was a four-year letterwinner at UCLA from 1999-2002. In 1999, she was named the team's most valuable freshman, and followed that honor up with the Most Dedicated award in 2000. In 2001 she received the Academic Excellence and Most Dedicated award and earned the Academic Excellence honor again in 2002.

Younglove will use the scholarship money to help finish up her Masters of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. She is also currently in the Teachers Credentialing program at California State University Sacramento (CSUS). She graduates from Fuller in June and CSUS next May.

Another former Bruin, Brighid Dwyer also was awarded an NCAA Post-Graduated Scholarship last year after having served as an alternate. Dwyer was a four-year varsity letterwinner for the Bruins from 1998-2001.

Dwyer was named UCLA's Most Improved swimmer in 2000 and Most Inspirational in 2001.
