Babineau followed with a RBI single to drive in Smith from third and give UCLA a 3-2 lead.

Freshman Brandon Crawford walked to reload the bases, as freshman Blair Dunlap singled to left field to score Roenicke to give UCLA a 4-2 lead and keep the bases loaded with one out. Senior Chris Jensen flied out to left field and Stewart popped out to shortstop to end the inning with the bases still loaded.

Arizona put up four in the third inning to take a 6-4 lead. Gaston laced a RBI double to put the score at 4-3, and Jason Donald hit a pop up to right field that got caught in the wind to drop for a RBI single and tie the game at 4-4. Plante's ground out to first scored a run to give the Wildcats a 5-4 lead and T.J. Steele's RBI single put UA up 6-4.

Freshman Jermaine Curtis then singled through the right side to score Jensen from third and Taylor Jr. scored from first as Jon Gaston misplayed the ball in right. Roenicke singled through the left side to pick up Curtis from third and give UCLA a 10-6 lead.
