Feb. 28, 2004

The second-ranked UCLA men's golf team travels to the annual Cleveland Classic, hosted by USC Mar 2-3 at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake.

The Bruins, who have won 10 tournaments since last February, have finished among the Top 10 in 19 straight events. Included in that streak are victories at the 2003 Pac-10 Championships, the NCAA West Regionals and the Fall Preview in September.

UCLA and senior Steve Conway are the defending champions at the Cleveland Classic. Conway's victory at North Ranch last season was the first of his career. He has since won two more individual titles and is the Bruins' top-ranked player at No.46.

In addition to Conway, the Bruins will field their regular lineup of seniors Travis Johnson, John Merrick and Roy Moon and junior John Poucher.

Johnson is a Golf Coaches Assn. of America All-American both on the course and in the classroom. Merrick, the defending Pac-10 individual champion, has earned All-America honors the last two seasons after finishing well in the NCAA Championships. Moon is the reigning Southern California Amateur champion and Poucher won the Fall Preview in September.
