In a break from MPSF action, the fourth-ranked Bruins (14-5, 4-1 MPSF) picked up a pair of wins at UC Santa Cruz. UCLA defeated Santa Clara 13-3 in the morning match before putting together a 17-5 victory over the host Banana Slugs in the afternoon match.
Brett Ormsby led the Bruins with five goals, while Ted Peck posted a hat trick in their 13-3 win over the Broncos. Joseph Axelrad posted four saves in the first half of action, while Will Didinger recorded seven in the second half. Center defender John Blanchette spearheaded the Bruin defense woth five steals in the match.
Didinger posted his first career double-digit save performance with 15 to lift UCLA over UC Santa Cruz. Nine different Bruins scored in the contest, while Ormsby led the team with four goals.
UCLA will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Loyola Marymount for a 3:00 p.m. match-up. The Bruins will return to MPSF play with matches at UC Irvine and Long Beach State over the weekend.
