Bruins to Host Top-Ranked Stanford, No. 11 Cal

Bruins Round Out Regular Season at Home . . .
Seventh-ranked UCLA (15-6; 5-1 Pac-10) rounds out the regular season this weekend, hosting top-ranked Stanford (21-0; 6-0 Pac-10) on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and No. 11 California (16-6; 4-2 Pac-10) on Saturday at Noon. The Bruins faced both teams two weeks ago in the Bay Area, losing 7-0 to Stanford and defeating Cal, 4-3. With a pair of wins this weekend, UCLA could claim a share of the Pac-10 title, as both matches count in the conference standings.

Bruins Take Nine of Last 10 . . .
The Bruins, winners of three in a row, have registered victories in nine of their last 10 matches heading into this week. UCLA's only loss during the run has been to top-ranked Stanford, which snapped the Bruins' six-match winning streak back on Apr. 3.

UCLA Posts Victories Over Pepperdine, Washington Schools . . .
UCLA capped off an outstanding week on Saturday, posting a 6-1 decision over Washington State at the LATC. A day earlier the Bruins pulled off the slight upset, defeating No. 6 Washington, 5-2. UCLA started the week on Wednesday by defeating Pepperdine for the second time this year, winning 6-1. In the three matches last week, the Bruins were a combined 9-0 in doubles play.

Bercek Plays First Match at No. 1 . . .
Freshman Daniela Bercek played her first-ever match at the No. 1 singles position on Saturday in the Bruins' dual against Washington State. She didn't disappoint, defeating Lorena Arias, 6-3, 6-4. Bercek, who has played at the No. 2 position for most of the year, improved her overall record to 18-3, including a 15-2 mark in dual-match play.

UCLA Moves Up to No. 7 . . .
UCLA jumped two spots from No. 9 to No. 7 when the rankings were released on Apr. 6. Individually, Jackie Carleton is ranked No. 16 in singles and is followed by No. 52 Daniela Bercek. In doubles, Carleton and Feriel Esseghir are ranked No. 26, while Carleton and Lauren Fisher check in at No. 11. New team rankings will be released this Tuesday. Coming Up . . .
Following the final two matches of the regular season this weekend, the Bruins will head to Ojai, Calif. for the Pac-10 Championships, Apr. 22-25. UCLA will then wait to find out if it has been selected to host NCAA Regionals, May 14-16. There will be 16 NCAA Regional sites throughout the country, with winners from each regional advancing to the 16-team NCAA Championships, May 20-23 in Athens, Ga. The NCAA Individual Championships will take place from May 24-29, also in Georgia.

Head Coach Stella Sampras Webster . . .
Stella Sampras Webster enters her eighth season as the head coach of the UCLA women's tennis program with a career record of 127-75 (.629). In her first seven seasons at UCLA, Sampras Webster guided the Bruins to six top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, including four top-5 showings (1997, 2000 2002 and 2003).
