The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team fell to second place after two rounds at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, hosted by Cal at the Guadalajara Country Club.
Although the Bruins improved their team score four shots from Monday's opening round, they still trailed USC by three strokes heading into Wednesday's final round. UCLA posted a team score of 287 (-1) and has a two-round total of 578 (+2). USC is in first place at 575 (-1). Arizona State is third at 585 (+9), followed by top-ranked Duke at 590 (+14) and Georgia at 595 (+19).
Individually for the Bruins, freshman Jane Park climbed the leaderboard by posting a three-under par score of 69 for a 36-hole total of 141 (-3). Sophomore Amie Cochran's 71 (-1) moved her into a tie for fifth at 143 (-1). Freshman Tiffany Joh and Susie Mathews were tied for 10th at 146 (+2). Joh carded a 74 (+2) and Mathews recorded a 73 (+1). Sophomore Brianna Loyear was 59th at 173 (+29) and freshman Ryann O'Toole, playing as an individual, was tied for 48th at 159 (+15).
USC's Irene Cho fired an eight-under par 64 and leads the field at 134 (-10).
The tournament concludes on Wednesday.
