Stanford is a lot like us. They have 16 starters returning. They have close to 40 experienced players. Offensively, they run the ball extremely well. I believe that's part of their success - you have to be able to run the ball. They have a couple of excellent quarterbacks. They have some outstanding receivers. They can throw the football. Their special teams are outstanding. Their punt returner leads the nation and the have good kickers and punters. Defensively, they have 11 senior starters. So they have some excellent players. They have some outstanding coaches and I'm good friends with those guys. Denny Schuler and I were at Oregon together. I know Kent Baer. I know all those coaches. I think Ty Willingham is an excellent coach. It's going to be a battle. I know people, and this is the other thing that kind of makes me laugh. People will say, "oh, you're waiting for the Oregon game." Well somebody forgot to tell Stanford not to beat Oregon. Anybody can beat anybody and that' the point I've been trying to make all along. This BCS stuff, and I know you are going to ask me about it, it doesn't really matter right now. There is a lot of football to be played. Everybody has this guy matched up against that guy, there is too much football to be played. Stanford in my opinion, as well as my coaching staff's opinion, has the best all-around football team that we have played to date. Offense, defense, special teams - they are the best.

As far as an injury update, (Cody) Joyce has some headaches as a result of a concussion so he's doubtful. (Brian) Poli-Dixon is still very doubtful. Matt Ware is questionable. We're hoping that the ankle isn't as bad as we first expected. That's why we always wait. I know sometimes you guys want me to say he'll be out for three weeks or a month, but you have to wait because you don't know. He might play this week. It's questionable.

The captain for this week will be Jason Stephens. Our offensive player of the game was (Cory) Paus. Our defensive player of the game was (Robert) Thomas. He barely played a little over two quarters. He made eight tackles and did a great job, but again we're not concerned with the stats. Special teams wise, Audie Attar did a great job. He made four tackles and was all over the place. When he played linebacker he did a great job of getting on our highlight reel for big hits.
