UCLA Men's Soccer Team 10th In NSCAA/adidas Pre-Season Rankings

The UCLA men's soccer team will enter the 2006 season ranked No. 10 in the nation in the NSCAA/adidas pre-season poll. The Bruins, who won their fourth consecutive Pac-10 Championship, finished last season with a No. 19 ranking and a 12-5-3 record. They return All-Pac-10 performers Eric Reed, Sal Zizzo, Brandon Owens and Brad Rusin while bringing in the nation's No. 1 recruiting class, led by current Youth National Team members Tony Beltran, Chance Myers, Kyle Nakazawa, Brian Perk and Michael Stephens.

UCLA will have 10 games against Top 25 opponents, including three consecutive against Top 4 teams in the first three weeks of the season. The Bruins open on Aug. 26 against 19th-ranked Cal State Northridge and then travel to No. 1 Maryland on Sept. 1, No. 4 Virginia on Sept. 3 and No. 3 New Mexico on Sept. 8. Other ranked teams UCLA will face are No. 11 California (away Sept. 22, home Oct. 29), No. 20 Santa Clara (home Sept. 15), No. 22 UC Santa Barbara (away Oct. 5) and No. 25 Washington (home Sept. 29, away Oct. 22).
