Freshman Matthew Reuter and sophomore Georgea Richards will head to the Pac-10 Heptathlon/Decathlon Championships in Eugene, OR this weekend as they hope to score UCLA's first team points of the meet. Competition begins on Saturday, May 6 and ends on Sunday, May 7.
Reuter heads to Oregon with the sixth-best point total in the conference, 6,271 points. He picked up that score in April at the California Invitational Decathlon during the Mt. SAC Relays. Reuter should definitely score the men's first points of the meet.
Reuter's best decathlon marks this season are - 100m (11.64/723 pts.); long jump (20-9.75/661 pts.); shot put (35-3/531 pts.); high jump (6-2.25/705 pts.); 400m (51.76/735 pts.); 110m hurdles (16.07/725 pts.); discus (113-4/554 pts.); pole vault (12-11.50/630 pts.); javelin (147-9/515 pts.); 1500m (5:07.11/519 pts.).
Last weekend, Reuter ran 15.75 in the 110m hurdles at the USC/UCLA dual meet, and has a season-best of 148-1 in the javelin.
Richards heads to Eugene with the ninth-best score in the conference with a season-best of 4,826 points, her best total as a Bruin. In April, Richards finished fifth at the California Invitational Heptathlon with her season-best score.
Richards' achieved her season-best total with these marks - 100m hurdles (14.58/898 pts.); high jump (5-1.25/689 pts.); shot put (31-3/498 pts.); 200m (25.33/857 pts.); long jump (18-5.75/738 pts.); javelin (96-3/464 pts.); 800m (2:30.86/682 pts.).
Richards has season-bests of 14.05 in the 100m hurdles, 25.01 in the 200m, 19-0.50 in the long jump and 109-6 in the javelin.
The remainder of the Pac-10 Championships will take place May 13-14 in Eugene, OR.
