Bruins Face Off With Nationally-Ranked Teams, Open PETCO Park:
UCLA, along with seven other schools, will help open the San Diego Padres new home, PETCO Park this weekend in the Aztec Invitational. The tournament, which opens on Thursday night with a game between Houston and host school San Diego State, will mark the first time the new ballpark will be open to the public.

The opening game has already sold over 33,000 tickets and is set to break a NCAA attendance record. The previous mark, which was set in a 2002 game between LSU and Tulane, is 27,673. Over 17,000 tickets have been sold for each of the following days.

The Bruins will take on ninth-ranked Long Beach State (11-4) on Friday in a 3:00 p.m. match-up. On Saturday, UCLA will face-off with 19th-ranked Nebraska (6-3) at 3:00 p.m., before taking on Houston (5-10) in an 11:00 a.m. contest.

UCLA Falls At 18th-Ranked UC Irvine, 6-0:
The Bruins dropped their third straight game on Tuesday night in a 6-0 loss at 18th-ranked UC Irvine.

Ryan McCarthy posted a season-high three hits as UCLA only mustered seven hits as a team.

Starter Hector Ambriz dropped to 2-2 on the year despite throwing a season-high seven strikeouts in the game.

Prior to the contest, Bruin head coach Gary Adams, was honored by the UC Irvine Athletic Department. Adams led the Anteaters to back-to-back national championships in 1973 and 1974 before taking the helm of the UCLA program.

Bruins Take One From 14th-Ranked Texas A&M:
In their first series against a ranked opponent, the Bruins claimed victory in Friday night's game against 14th-ranked Texas A&M before dropping the weekend contests.

On Friday, UCLA defeated the Aggies behind the solid pitching of starter Casey Janssen. The senior from Huntington Beach improved to 4-0 on the season with the win. He allowed only two runs on six hits in 7.1 innings. He also struck out four batters to bring his season strikeout total to 39 in 31.1 innings of work. On the offensive side, Wes Whisler and Matt Thayer both posted three hits in the game. Whisler hit his second homer of the season, while driving in two runs.

Despite out-hitting the Aggies on Saturday, the Bruins were unable to hold onto an early lead and fell 8-4 to Texas A&M. Brett McMillan and Billy Susdorf highlighted the Bruin offense with two hits apiece. McMillan hit his team-leading third home run of the season in the game.

Sunday saw the Bruin bats post only four hits while dropping the rubber match of the series, 8-2. A two-run home run from Ryan McCarthy drove in both UCLA runs, while Susdorf hit his seventh single on the year.

Watching Whisler:
Junior left-hander Wes Whisler has been named to the Roger Clemens Award Watch List. The award, which is in its first year of existence, will be given to the nation's top collegiate pitcher. The watch list currently consists of preseason All-Americans, while more names will be added next month.
