Wynne, Ianni Earn NSCAA All-America Honors

Dec. 9, 2005

UCLA sophomore defender Marvell Wynne (Poway, Calif.) and junior midfielder/defender Patrick Ianni (Lodi, Calif.) have been selected to the NSCAA All-America soccer team. Wynne earned first-team acclaim and was the only underclassman named to the first team. Ianni earned second-team honors.

The duo earned first-team NSCAA Far West All-Region and first-team All-Pac-10 honors this season and were semifinalists for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy. Both players helped the Pac-10 champion Bruins accumulate 14 shutouts on the year, the second-highest total in school history. UCLA allowed just 14 goals, ranked fourth-best in school history. On the offensive front, Ianni scored two goals and two assists for six points, while Wynne had one goal and three assists for five points.

UCLA has been represented on the NSCAA All-America squad in each of the last 23 years, and the Bruins have had a total of 37 players earn 45 All-America honors since 1971. Wynne is UCLA's 23rd first-team All-American.
