Los Angeles - The fifth-ranked UCLA men's water polo team dropped its first round match of the MPSF Championships to No. 3 California in overtime, 12-13, on Friday at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium. With the loss the Bruins fall to 19-8 on the season.

Junior Logan Powell and freshman Krsto Sbutega led the Bruins with four goals each, senior David Pietsch scored two goals, and sophomore Marco Santos and freshman Patrick Morrison each chipped in a goal each.

Junior goalkeeper Will Didinger finished with six saves.

UCLA tallied the first goal of the match, but California came back to tie it up before going into the second period. Cal didn't trail again until the Bruins scored their seventh goal in the middle of the third period with a shot from Sbutega.

UCLA came back from a two-goal deficit in the last two minutes of play, as a goal by Powell with 16 second left in regulation would send the match into overtime.

Cal's Andrija Vasiljevic scored the game-winning goal with two minutes left in the second overtime period.

UCLA will next play on Saturday Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. against Long Beach State in the second round of the MPSF Championships.
